pedro calling it quits

Postby huh?What? » Sun Oct 16, 2005 8:14 pm

I heard that Bazan is thinking about giving up the pedro the lion theme. Reasons being financial and family.

This particular rumor is probably not true, but I have heard TW say that if they didn't start selling more records or somehow making more money that they would probably have to quit and do something else. Both TW and Dave have wives and children so it wouldn't be that weird if they did quit. I sincerely hope alot more people start paying attention to their music and buying their records and merch so that can keep creating some of my favorite music.

Laughing.

Anyway, Its weird how Pedro The Lion manages to get overlooked among all of the other "indie" bands. Or so it seems.

Alot of seem to say, "Oh i've heard him, pretty good." But then never pick up his cd, or give him a real chance.

Maybe Dave is just too much of a veteran(Does being around since 1997 make you a veteran? Maybe not.) for news fans.

The problem is they play a style of music that generally isn't very commercially successful, so I really don't think it's possible for Pedro to ever make all that much money unless they switch gears.

at one point the band really could've caught on... but just didn't. while a good album, achilles heel really was their achilles heel.

maybe with the new album next year, they can push for a more commercial release and become the new Deathcab!

Pedro the lion is one of those bands that people like to say they have heard because Pedro is really "indie" but they only listen to Death cab for cutie, and the killers

but in the end your right, Pedros style of music puts them right outside the limelight that is popular music

I don't think i've ever thought Dave's music had an "In your face" quality.

In fact, I didn't like Pedro at all for a long time. I heard "diamond ring" and hated it. Now it is one of my favorite songs.

You kind've have to allow his song writing to seep into you, I think so at least.
