It's funny that that story isn't popular over here at all. Hardly anyone knows it.

I think I wrote my contribution tonight in a bout of insomnia. It sounds a little bit like Neutral Milk Hotel. I like it though. Not sure when I'll record it yet.
I'm just one too many mornings and a thousand miles behind.

Does anybody know what the deal is with the music rights if songs are donated to this project?

It won't be a problem as long as these aren't widely publicly available (no hidden distro deals in the works, I trust) and the contributors don't register the songs they submit with their Publishers/ASCAP/BMI/Caesar Augustus. My understanding is that copies would be ordered based solely on interest among the messageboard folks, with no intention of ordering additional copies for sale to the public.

With regard to the "theme-less" approach, is the idea still that these are compositions specifically written for this project, or are people just sending in their favorite/least embarrassing songs? Just wondering. If there is no unifying conceptual framework, I like working with some play on Threadbare for a title, which would suggest both the lack of theme and the messageboard. Or maybe Free to Be You and Pst Teh Mp3s Thx What She Said NICE Hotashley Luvs Hot Karl Rove is Killing America No He's Not Hot Global Warming is a Myth.

I've changed my mind. I'm pro-theme.

Edit: I don't know if juan_pedro thinks it's a good idea/wants to do it, but maybe it's sweet to release it on Blue Duck records. Or maybe someone else here has some kind of record label thing.
