PTL/DB/Headphones Tribute Album

Postby noah » Wed Mar 28, 2007 7:51 pm

I thought I would start this by posing a possible way to do it. After you read you can offer opinions, cries of shock, outrage, or protest. Seriously though, let me know what you think of this (please address these by their numbers - it will make things easier):

---

UPDATE: March 28 - Deadline extended to June 15th
UPDATE: March 29 - Nothing "DB" on the design, no voting, $1 more per CD for royalties.

1. It was suggested that Torgo get design dibs. That's totally cool by me if everyone is down, including Torgo. If not, we could have a seperate thread to vote on designs. design must not contain anything to do with DB.

2. Who does what songs. Most everyone is cool enough to work this out I think. Post what song you would like do under "Number 2" and I'll keep track of it plus make a page on my web site listing who has what. I think people who have been here longer/have more posts should have dibs on what they want to do. It plainly makes sense. So please Uber-Posters, don't be shy to say, "hey dude, mind if I do that song." The n00bs will submit :)

3. People send their songs to me via email, snail mail, or whatever. June 15th will be the deadline for these submissions. At midnight on June 15th if I don't have a song that you reserved to cover, you forfeit your right to do that song. I will post a new thread listing the new "available" songs to cover. Anyone, once they claim it, will then have until June 30th to submit those songs. Mattmon, feel free to do "Diamond Ring."

4. Manufacturing/Publishing. Nothing "DB" on the design. Given the manufacturing costs, plus the 9 cents per song to Dave, it will be around $3 per CD.

---

Thoughts, please.

As I said in the other thread, dibs on Rejoice. It's not a bad system. I could go for a deadline extension of about a month, but if that's too long, then it is.

I agree with all of that.

I think people that have been around should get first dibs obviously, but I don't think we should not allow people to participate just because they joined recently. Lets be honest every time we do this we get far less submissions than we expect, hence the more the merrier. The more people involved the more complete the end product.

Honestly I don't think I will have time to record a tune, but maybe I will. I will be more than happy though to create any needed polls or help out in any way I can.

i was hoping for the same thing...i'll be purchasing my recording equipment sometime in the month of May...but, i'm not exactly sure what day specifically...so pushing it back a month would be perfect...
