share your top five albums of the year.

metacritic puts the top five albums as

DAMN. Kendrick Lamar
A Crow Looked at Me Mount Eerie
Melodrama Lorde
The Dusk in Us Converge
Eternity, In Your Arms Creeper

I liked Melodrama enough. I liked Care more.

So
Bazan's Care
Lorde Melodrama
The National had an okay album. To me it doesn't match High Violet
FJM's Pure Comedy was good but not as good as the one that made him famous
I am U2 fan so I like SOI. It's not on par with JT, Achtung Baby, or Pop which is a personal favorite.
The St Vincent album was pretty good.

Feels like a mediocre year.

I'm getting old and finding it increasingly hard to give new music the attention it deserves, but I have five:

Land of Talk - Life After Youth
QOTSA - Villains
TW Walsh - Terrible Freedom
Bazan - Care
St Vincent - Masseduction
I'm just one too many mornings and a thousand miles behind.

I suck at these because I always forget a real obvious one or don't realize an album came out over a year ago, but off the top of my head without looking it up:

(No order)

Lo Tom s/t (no one has put this yet?!)

Care

Turn Out the Lights - Julien Baker

The Nashville Sound - Jason Isbell

Science Fiction - Brand New (guess that's a little controversial now though)

Wish I could include FJM's Pure Comedy but it didn't really grab me, and that's coming from a huge Tillman fan.

I haven't listened to the newest The National album enough yet but I generally love them all. Wish I could add Fleet Foxes latest but it seems to have lost it's luster with me.

Almost added Sufjan's Carrie and Lowell but apparently that's almost 2 years old now, somehow.

I'm definitely missing something super obvious

Here's what I spent the most time with:

Bonobo - Migration
War on Drugs - A Deeper Understanding
Mount Eerie - A Crow Looked At Me
Big Thief - Capacity
Thundercat - Drunk

Also really really enjoyed Balmorhea, Tom Adams, that Sufjan collective, LCD Soundsystem, Jens Lekman, Penguin Cafe, Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers, Sza, Destroyer, Loney Dear, and Rostam.
