I personally think it doesn't even matter who ends up winning. We're going to be screwed no matter what.

There, there. Don't be so negative. It's not like your economy is crashing and you're in a huge war or anything like that.

I've heard that a few times now. What's the logic in that? Are the differences between the republicans and democrats so small you can vote for the other party just because you hate your own candidate?

No. Just trying to stress how important it is that you elect them because they're still campaigning to be the nominee.

simple economics.

good question, numan. there is no logic to a lot of people's voting. it's because the presidential race in america is a big popularity contest. the logic goes something like: "i'd rather have a beer with george bush than al gore, therefore he's got my vote." it also has to do with who's better on TV--that's the only explanation i can give you for how ronald reagan was elected twice.

luckily [or unluckily], everyone tries to move so far to the middle that there winds up being little substantive difference between the candidates, so a "liberal" president like bill clinton can encourage heavy-handed enforcement of drug laws that incarcerate larger numbers of non-violent offenders than ever before without really causing a significant stir.

Actually, I am of a related thought about the race. If Hillary Clinton manages to steal the nomination at this point by way of superdelegates, I will not be voting for anyone in the fall. In my case it's because I've had enough of the race-baiting, enough of the implications that she likes McCain better than Obama, enough of the willingness to go along with the media frenzy on every bullshit non-story that breaks.
I'm just one too many mornings and a thousand miles behind.

Boy Dylan meets Bob Marley. You are their love child. You have to have quite a lot of talent.
