I've listened to this song a few times over the past couple days since you posted it, mainly because there has been this moment every time I have ever tried to write a song where I have to stop and consider whether or not this song is what I have just written -- it's not entirely unsuccessful at what it's aiming for and I'm sure her friends all get really into it at the open mic when she sings it every Tuesday night at Java the Hutt, reifying her satisfaction with it week after week after week until finally, bam, that $300 she got for finally selling that vintage-but-rusty Bianchi that she was totally going to commute with but then never rode is all the wings she needs to make a video with her friends and wouldn't that be hilarious and then it's out there in the world and is actually pretty objectively terrible once it's not a room full of your friends singing it with you last Tuesday but now you can't control that it's just us having fun and not supposed to be art or deep or whatever, you know, but now that rusty bike is looking like a way to slink out of here and she can never sing this song again on this or any Tuesday night; so I don't write songs and now maybe she doesn't either.

This is incredibly fucking depressing.

The ruse was a success.

One thing I've learned in making music is that production or "performance" makes 90% of the song. You can take a relatively shit song and turn it into a great sounding tune. It's all about the instrumentation and way of recording, with that I mean that the recording should match the performer. She's obviously not a great singer, but she's not utterly horrible either. Her voice should be mixed further away into the music, maybe layered and it needs some reverb to mask the imperfections. Such a direct sounding voice should only be used with people who can really sing well. I know these things require some production knowledge but the audio glitches in the beginning of the video are unforgivable. Get your shit together, Briana, even though this is probably a troll video.
