The first rule of The Commander Thinks Aloud is.....

Since I have not heard the 7" and Dave's original recording is like, seven years old, I can't help but wonder if he rerecorded it for the 7" release. Hence my desire to hear it.

I am bad at jokes, so if this is a pure joke rather than kidding on the square, sorry, but I was under the impression that it was okay to talk about it, particularly here, just not to distribute it.

Same here. But it was all hush hush

I have one. Thanks to the nice people at Barsuk.

I think they intended to try and pull together a CD of Barsuk bands doing covers of each others songs, but not everyone could get it together in time so they did the lathe cut as part of the Barsuk XV celebrations. I guess Dave had his, Mates of State have a DCFC cover and Matthew Caws can be trusted to turn in something fast. Not so much John Roderick I guess?

I would like to claim credit for the Barsuk covers CD as I posted the idea on the Barsuk board back in 2000something. I also claim the DCFC box set idea, (except I wanted all the tracks released in separate 7"'s in coloured vinyl), signing Andrew Kenny and the invention of penicillin.

Yes those clips sounded killer as well!

Can't believe this is getting a semi proper release after a decade. Wild.

Is the Tillman/Jurado thing a joke? Confused!

No way!
Tillman did "I Can't Get Over You" which I think is among Jurado's best songs. There was a 30 second snippet when the bazan/long winters was up, some 10 years ago.
I've been eager to hear it. Not sure what song Jurado did/was going to do but I know he had performed "When I Light Your Darkened Door" before and I think it's better than Tillman's version.

Thanks for the answer, man. Doubt it will ever happen now with them both on other labels and now there is no Josh Tillman there is only FJM.
