Postby ajmiller » Thu Oct 27, 2005 9:24 am

well i just got home 7hrs ago and what am i doing? lurking around this site and checking out what the local venues have to offer up for the comming months... and well the first of the Bazan Solo shows i know of has been confirmed by Bottom Of The Hill.

Mark your calanders fellow SF-ers

Sunday December 4 @ 9pm
Pedro The Lion (solo)
Rosie Thomas

ill be going so i guess you know what to expect after that. shakey/slightly blurry pictures and some sort of audio. i am really excited to see Rosie Thomas supporting. been awhile since i saw her live act.

Oh man. I gotta move out of the sticks.

I love the new Rosie Thomas cd, If Songs Could Be Held.

it's so good - it's like she did nothing but listen to late 70's pop before recording it.

i guess i am in the minority here, but i didnt feel this was her best album.

on the first listen it was just too commercial and clean sounding. i dont feel like she took too many risks with this album and kind of just stuck to what she knows and possibly over-polished that. there are a few stand out moments when i am listening to the album and think "oh thats good" but its nothing striking to me. i had a lot of high hopes for this record i guess and tracks like "Say What You Want" just remind me of something id hear sitting in a Starbucks Cafe sipping a quadruple tripled mocha latte with a lemon twist or something along those lines. kind of a stripped down early mclachlan without the syths and drums. maybe it was her lineup change that did it.

keep in mind this is just my opinion.

ajmiller-- i completely agree with you.

i recently saw her open for Michael Penn and she was amazing.... and slightly drunk. "Yeah I got excited and drank two whiskey and cokes, and now I'm excited and drunk."

or something like that.

No joke. I haven't been able to find any L.A. dates yet. Nor have I found any dates for Crystal Skulls/Richard Swift, which is supposed to be happening around the same time. :(

Going to try to make it to the Knitting Factory one. :)

It's not a 21+ place, right? RIGHT? I swear, being 20 is really annoying.

Yay! December 6th will be a happy day, as long as I don't have a final on that day. Which I hope I don't. I really, really, hope I don't.
