My wife and I recently returned from our honeymoon in Phoenix/Sedona/Grand Canyon.

We didn't love our time in the Phoenix area and I'm hoping Dave's thoughts might help fill in the blanks and help me see the city from a different perspective.

It's Pedro the Lion's darkest offering yet ... an album about how bad Phoenix sucks.

I'm excited to hear what look to be transition tracks (01 and 06). It would be a first, I think, for Dave to release a track without lyrics, so there is probably something there. They're short but I realllllly want to hear those.

And everything else, obviously.

I can't put my finger on it right now but I really like these songs. They get better the more I listen.

apologies if this has already been mentioned but i just now read an interview with dave from last spring where he mentions that phoenix [and havasu] are the first two in a series of albums about the five different cities that he has lived in

But Bazan had formative experiences in all five places—Phoenix, Lake Havasu City, Scotts Valley, Paradise and Seattle. He plans on using his ruminations as the source material for five albums to be released in one-year increments starting next spring. He's pondered this compulsion to revisit familiar places, he said, and, “the phrase ‘midlife crisis' has occurred to me. This is my Corvette.”

im really excited about this project and glad that he has nailed down a schedule of sorts to better manage his time with family/music/touring

New track today! "Quietest Friend" is great -- I am so excited that the songwriting has continued to interrogate and attempt to make sense of these specific experiences and particular spaces, with the reflective approach of a memoir (how did I feel then? how do I feel about it now? what are the things about it then that I can't shake about it now?). The Bazanaissance marches forward with no signs of flagging. In like 8 words I was thrown back into the dread of my school cafeteria and the weak compromises of my childhood. No songwriting about spousal murder or the absence of God can match that.

What up Perry?

Love the tunes ... not sure about these videos. Dave’s fucking with us right? I mean with hood, right?

Hey Matt -- things are great. My wife and I had a son in the fall and it's been nonstop for a few months, but extremely happy. I've only seen the 'Yellow Bike' video, which I really liked, so I'll have to check out others. I really like all 3 songs released to date, and honestly think each one has been better than the last.

Congrats man. Kids are awesome.

I also totally agree, Quietest Friend is ... well, actually, I'm just going to sit here and listen to it for awhile and see.

Glad all is well. I had just figured out one kid when we added a second to the household. 4yr and 4 mont old will definitely keep you busy.

LPs should be here Wednesday. Excited to hear this album in higher fidelity.
