Re: So what's new?

The last time I posted here was just before I moved Alaska, and my life has been very different since then. I moved to a tiny Alaskan town for 6 months, drank like a college kid, got into a serious relationship there, went backpacking in South East Asia which was a less than enjoyable but very good ...

Re: So what's new?

Hey all wow, my last post in this thread is embarrassing so I'm gonna delete it after this. I was in a pretty immature and nasty place 3 years ago. But since then: - I got a little older - I finally broke free of about 7 years of on/off depression and started being happy - I listened to more music b...

Re: So My Bloody Valentine released their new album today

So I got the mp3 version and one thing I had noticed was that it was mixed kinda different than their past stuff and just sounded way lower quality of a recording/mastering/mix/everything than the standard they are normally at...turns out the "320" version is actually just a 128 transcode?...

So My Bloody Valentine released their new album today

I'm three listens deep. I was thinking this would be a slightly lamer sound alike to Loveless, but it is instead pretty experimental and original, has an excellent sonic progression from the beginning (which is standard MBV) to the end (which is the more experimental), and has some great all around ...

Re: Hey. Whatcha Readin?

I'm trying to limit myself to only reading one fiction and one non-fiction at a time, since normally I am reading like 10 books at once and I never finish anything. Fiction: The Once and Future King by TH White, a childhood favorite. Non-fiction: The Mountains of Saint Francis by Walter Alvarez. Abo...

Re: 2012 top 5 albums

Edited and actual thought put into it. 1: Swans - The Seer I was pretty disappointed after my first listen. I hadn't paid any attention to post-reformation Swans, really had no desire to, and was surprised to see this album getting attention after their last one hadn't garnered tremendous praise. So...

Fuckity fuckity fuck. SunnO))) is playing in bellingham on the 15th. but it is 21+ (still only 20). But it doesn't matter anyway because my buddy is getting married that day. And now I'll miss out on Bazan too. Freakin weddings.

Re: The Walking Dead on AMC

Simon Pegg on zombies that run . Also, you should all read World War Z before even watching the preview. The preview makes it apparent that the movie will just be a standard survival flick, following one main character who is saves the world along with the US military. Or something. The book is loo...

Re: Voting Tuesday?

I voted for Jill Stein. I am pretty strongly libertarian. Except when it comes to environmental issues, then I think everything should have the shit regulated out of it. Those values are stronger to me than personal freedoms, which have not really held me back from doing what I'd like to thus far in...

Re: Vinyl reissues

My local shops have had vinyl copies of Electrical Audio since it was released. I THINK they still have a few. I could check and help people who need them to get them at a normal price!

Also, not buying the reissues yet because I'm poor.

One day.

Re: Godspeed You! Black Emperor secretly released a new reco

the disappointment of Yanqui I hear a lot of people talk about this album as if it's shit, but I really don't get it. I would say Lift Yr Skinny Fists is without a doubt their "best" / "classic" album, but I probably prefer to listen to Yanqui U.X.O.... Honestly, it's some of th...

Re: Godspeed You! Black Emperor secretly released a new reco

Weird that they're still naming their records shit like that even after they've been grown ups for so long. goes along with the 10 year old songs we are going to hear all over again. Yeah, though I was (and still am) very excited about the album, the actual music is really dull. I had low expectati...

Re: Godspeed You! Black Emperor secretly released a new reco

Allelujah! Don't Bend! Ascend! (aaaaand it leaked. this even makes Death Grips little fuckyou to Sony seem dull) Edit: No leak yet. It can't be too long though. I'm thinking more like hours than days. Edit 2: leaked I totally would buy it right away, but after the disappointment of Yanqui I'm gonna ...
